A Glimpse Inside Our New Distillery

In 2016, we embarked on a mission to create a home for Scapegrace that reflects the character of our spirits and our dedication to purity, sustainability, and legacy. After six years exploring Central Otago, we found the perfect site between the Pisa Ranges and Lake Dunstan. Today, it stands as New Zealand’s largest distillery and the heart of Scapegrace.

The distillery’s location exactly on the 45th Parallel is no coincidence; it’s unique to creating New World Whisky. Positioned midway between the Equator and the South Pole, this site experiences scorching summers and frigid winters—conditions vital for the unique aging of Single Malt Whisky. These temperature extremes shape the character, depth, and age of our whisky.

But the journey didn’t end with finding the perfect location. We wanted the distillery to fully reflect our values. Sustainability is at the heart of our strategy, with initiatives to enhance biodiversity, reduce our carbon footprint, and support social, cultural, and community projects. Every decision was made to respect the land, ensuring it thrives for generations to come.

Designed by Cheshire Architects, the land itself shapes the two ‘long-house’ buildings nestled in the rugged Bendigo mountains. It stands as a testament to our journey and enduring future. We invite you to join this new chapter of Scapegrace, where tradition and innovation blend seamlessly.

Welcome to our new spiritual home.
